What If You Want To Change Your Goals

“OMG, I was working my ass off to achieve XYZ and now I feel that I don’t want it anymore. If I change my goal, I’d feel that I’ve wasted all those years working towards it…”

I heard this today, a week ago and numerous times before that.

SO WHAT that you’ve spent a lot of time working towards something that you wanted in the past?!

Your goals and what you want can change. You grow (hopefully!) and as you do, the old may no longer fit into your vision of the future and that old goal may no longer be aligned with who you are TODAY.

I spent close to 15 years in travel industry. I love the industry and I know that I was (still kinda am) damn good at what I did, wrote a book to share my knowledge and to this day my friends still call and message me asking for an advice. But I chose a different path along the way because I learned more about myself, totally shifted how I see myself and things around me (to say the least), got rid of my “I can’ts,” figured out what I truly wanted and all those things made me realize that transforming lives of others was simply so much closer to my heart than teaching and assisting others with travel arrangements or ventures that I was in.

So… if you’re coming from a place of growth and know exactly what makes you happy, go for it, even if it means dropping what you’ve been doing for years!

Now, it’s a totally different story if you have a pattern of JUMPING from one thing to another and your goals change every week or month or so.
Usually, one of several (or all) of these things may be happening…

YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT.
YOU LACK KNOWLEDGE.
YOU’RE NOT DOING THE THINGS YOU NEED TO DO.
YOU’RE SABOTAGING YOUR OWN EFFORTS.

If you really know what you want, have the necessary skills and truly are doing all you can to get to where you want to be, you may not believe that you can get ‘there’ and therefore, you may be unconsciously sabotaging your own efforts and staying in what’s familiar without even realizing that.

What to do then?

Ask yourself tons of questions and be very honest with yourself.
Observe your mind and figure out the patterns.
Identify and eliminate the root cause and mental limitations.

Then…. GO ALL IN AND DO ALL POSSIBLE TO GET WHAT YOU WANT.
